Fashionistas need to pair their raspberry beret with raspberry perfume.
As the intersection of beauty and food continues to grow, analysts at Spate say food-inspired trends are continuing to lead the charge in the beauty world.
Berries, in particular, have captured the attention of trendsetters, with no shortage of berry-inspired launches. Per Spate’s popularity index, the moment’s fastest-growing berry beauty trends are raspberry perfume and berry blush.
Raspberry is experiencing a surge in popularity. This trend has grown by +363.6% compared to last year, and across platforms. Google Search owns this trend, holding a 72.2% popularity share. While this trend currently has very low popularity across platforms, it represents an emerging niche opportunity ripe for exploration.
But the juicy fruit isn’t the only note hitting consumers. Searches like black raspberry vanilla perfume, vanilla and raspberry perfume and blue raspberry perfume highlight a preference for raspberry paired with other scents, particularly vanilla. All of these scents fall under the gourmand category (edible, sweet scents), which has been especially popular lately (+182.1% year-over-year growth across platforms), offering plenty of room for brands to experiment with other edible fragrance notes. Analysts encourage fragrance brands to keep this in mind when naming products and planning their launch calendars.
Berry blush has grown by +96.3% compared to last year, gaining traction across platforms. TikTok is leading the charge, holding a 76.0% popularity share, with the trend receiving an average of 471.9K weekly views. Some brands are already dominating queries on Google Search, such as Milani berry amore blush, Elf berry well blush, Revlon matte powder blush blushing berry, Physicians formula organic wear dewy blush elixir pink berry and Honest beauty cream blush plum berry. If brands already offer a berry-toned blush, they are encouraged to consider updating the product copy, renaming it or releasing social content showcasing how to use berry blush.
Food-inspired makeup has significant potential—having previously been more common in fragrance and body care. Spate anticipates a wide range of culinary influences inspiring new shades and textures across blush, eyeshadow, lipstick and more.
